West and Chester Council secures Green Homes Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Cheshire West and Chester Council has secured over \u00a3500,000 in funding to install energy efficient measures to some of the borough&#8217;s most inefficient homes<\/h2>\n<p>Provided through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/green-homes-grants\/80914\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Green Homes Grant<\/a> scheme for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/green-homes-grant-local-authority-delivery-scheme-entering-a-bid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Local Authority Delivery<\/a>, the funding will be delivered through the council&#8217;s partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qwestservices.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Qwest Services<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Residents who would like to make energy efficiency improvements to their homes and don&#8217;t meet the eligibility criteria for the Local Authority Delivery scheme, can apply to the national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/apply-for-the-green-homes-grant-scheme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is separate from the Local Authority Delivery scheme and covers measures such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/infrastructure-homes-investment\/80350\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">low-carbon heating and insulation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Green Homes Grant Voucher Scheme, which is available until March 2022, will provide two-thirds of the costs of installing eligible measures, to a maximum of \u00a35,000, with homeowners contributing the remainder.<\/p>\n<h3>Measures include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Cavity wall and loft insulation to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/energy-modelling-buildings\/88027\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reduce carbon emissions<\/a> produced from heating homes, whilst also tackling the poverty emergency by lowering fuel bills and improving the health and wellbeing of some of the borough&#8217;s most vulnerable residents.<\/li>\n<li>Residents in receipt of qualifying benefits looking to install eligible measures, can claim up to a maximum of \u00a310,000 without having to contribute.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Work has already started to insulate park homes across the borough, and over the forthcoming months, the Council will be identifying more eligible homes and installing energy saving measures.<\/p>\n<p>All homes benefitting from the improvements will have a combined household income of less than \u00a330,000 per year and will be within the lowest Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) band ratings.<\/p>\n<p>The Council will contact eligible households directly to provide details of the energy efficient measures they can benefit from.<\/p>\n<h3>Becoming a carbon neutral borough<\/h3>\n<p>Matt Bryan, cabinet member for housing, planning and climate emergency, said: &#8220;Housing makes up 14% of the borough&#8217;s total carbon emissions, which all contribute to the global issue of climate change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s a key area for us to focus on and the success of our funding applications with our partner Qwest Services will help us to address the problem of cold homes for some of our most vulnerable residents and put us a step closer to our target of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/zero-carbon-homes-in-cheshire\/86330\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">becoming a carbon neutral borough<\/a> by 2045.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"mk-custom-module-container\">\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cheshire West and Chester Council has secured over
