Crossrail<\/a> has handed over the Farringdon Elizabeth line station, built by the BAM, Ferrovial, Kier joint venture (Team BFK<\/a>), to Transport for London<\/a> (TfL)<\/h2>\n

The Farringdon Elizabeth line<\/a> station is the first central London station to reach handover.<\/p>\n

Throughout the delivery of Farringdon station, there were 82 apprentices and 10,000 people were inducted into Team BFK.<\/p>\n

The project team showed commitment to innovation, as well as using new build techniques.<\/p>\n

\u2018A huge milestone for Crossrail\u2019<\/h3>\n

Jose Antonio Pariente, project director, BAM Ferrovial Kier, said:\u00a0\u201cFarringdon has led the way by becoming the first central London Elizabeth line station to hand over from Crossrail to TfL.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe commitment from every single member of the BFK team as we have worked collaboratively with our client Crossrail throughout has been nothing short of commendable.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe legacy of the construction phase \u2013 innovation, engineering<\/a>, social impact will endure for generations to come.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been an extraordinary scheme to deliver and I would like to thank all involved for their strength, resilience, and determination to get the station handed over and to the excellent standard we have achieved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mark Wild, Crossrail chief executive, added:\u00a0\u201cI am delighted that Farringdon station has been handed over to London Underground, this is a huge milestone for Crossrail.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am proud of everyone who has worked so hard to get this magnificent new railway station over the line and we look forward to more stations reaching this stage in the coming months.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the Elizabeth line opens, Farringdon station will be one of the busiest in the UK.<\/p>\n
