{"id":90167,"date":"2021-03-11T08:56:10","date_gmt":"2021-03-11T08:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=90167"},"modified":"2021-03-11T08:56:10","modified_gmt":"2021-03-11T08:56:10","slug":"construction-skills-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/construction-skills-plan\/90167\/","title":{"rendered":"CLC publishes landmark construction skills plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionleadershipcouncil.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction Leadership Council<\/a> (CLC) has published the first sector-wide construction skills plan, which proposes a \u2018Talent View portal\u2019, a drive towards increased direct employment and new construction traineeship programmes<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/skills-gap-in-construction\/64014\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">construction skills<\/a> plan for 2021-25 sets out the key skills challenges facing construction and how they can be tackled.<\/p>\n<p>The plan sets out a series of actions and commitments for both industry and Government to help meet these challenges, grouped under the following four areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Careers<\/li>\n<li>Standards and qualifications<\/li>\n<li>Training, education and development<\/li>\n<li>Culture and working environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To improve the attractiveness of construction careers and access to them, a Talent View portal will be developed, providing a one-stop-shop for new entrants and an industry standard for work experience will be put in place.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, up to 7,000 STEM ambassadors will be encouraged to join the sector-specific construction and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/stateup-21-built-environment\/89717\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">built environment<\/a> scheme, with a target of 1,700 fully supported by 2024.<\/p>\n<p>A set of new construction traineeship programmes, and a pathway from Further Education into construction, will be developed in order to support and boost routes into the industry. There will be a move to focus of competence by developing new competence frameworks.<\/p>\n<p>New training standards will be set in two areas \u2013 to support the drive towards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/net-zero-digital-tools\/89548\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">net zero<\/a> fossil fuel emissions and for smart construction to create digital and offsite construction skills.<\/p>\n<p>The CLC also supports the drive towards increased direct employment.
