Stanhope<\/a> and Laing O\u2019Rourke<\/a> have signed the \u00a360m contract to deliver One Wood Crescent, a ten-storey commercial development on plot D of the former BBC Television Centre in White City, London<\/h2>\n

Stanhope and partners have worked to give the location a new lease of life with a creative mix of uses, including commercial, residential, retail, entertainment and a public realm, while also protecting the building\u2019s heritage<\/a> and original function as the home of British broadcasting.<\/p>\n

\"\"To deliver certainty for Stanhope, 70% of the contract cost will be completed by Laing O\u2019Rourke\u2019s in-house specialist trading businesses, and the build will rely heavily on the company\u2019s DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) approach.<\/p>\n

Components, including twin wall, columns, stairs, facades and MEP plant, will be digitally designed and precision manufactured offsite before being assembled onsite in White City.<\/p>\n

This means the CAT A fit-out can take place just two floors below the floor slabs as construction progresses upwards.<\/p>\n

Partners on the plot D development are Morris+Company. (Architect), Arup<\/a> (structures and MEP), Ramboll<\/a> (facade) and Deloitte<\/a> (cost consultants).<\/p>\n

Tony Wall, construction director at Stanhope, said: \u201cWe are delighted to have Laing O\u2019Rourke as our delivery partner for the One Wood Crescent project at Television Centre.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir innovation and expertise in modern methods of construction<\/a> (MMC), using products manufactured in their UK factories, brings surety to the project\u2019s delivery and will play a key part in meeting the 2023 completion date.\u201d<\/p>\n
