and logistics training opportunity for local Tilbury residents"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forthports.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Port of Tilbury<\/a> is launching a funded training programme called &#8216;Routes to Logistics&#8217;, with opportunities for over 200 local residents who are currently unemployed<\/h2>\n<p>The programme will run an introductory training course of up to three days focussing on working in the transport and logistics industry with the aim of building people\u2019s career aspirations and developing follow on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/amey-government-training\/89798\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">support and training<\/a>, tailored to the individual to help them get back into the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>The course includes access to key accredited courses including First Aid, Health and Safety, Fork Lift Novice Licence and an <a href=\"https:\/\/iosh.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IOSH<\/a> managing safety course with additional e-learning modules that can be accessed remotely and cover all aspects of personal development, accredited health and safety, and aspects of the logistics industry.<\/p>\n<p>Routes to Logistics is a 21-month project specifically for the Tilbury community, engaging 204 people in logistics and transport sector training and careers pathways.<\/p>\n<p>The project develops local pathways to the businesses, customers and projects associated with the Port of Tilbury and UK plc.<\/p>\n<p>Routes to Logistics is funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thurrock.gov.uk\/tilbury-growth\/community-led-local-development#:~:text=The%20development%20and%20implementation%20of,strong%20links%20with%20local%20residents.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tilbury Community-led Local Development<\/a> (CLLD) programme administered by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thurrock.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thurrock Council<\/a> and in Partnership with <a href=\"http:\/\/tott.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tilbury on the Thames Trust<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Overcoming obstacles to employment<\/h3>\n<p>Simon Harper, training and development manager at The Port of Tilbury, said: \u201cAs we have seen during this past year, transport and logistics are key roles in our society and we are very pleased to be able to launch this new programme to give the local community the opportunity through training and development to enhance their employability for a career in this sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnyone interested in the course should speak to their job centre.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Deb Huelin, Thurrock Council\u2019s cabinet member for communities, added: \u201cWe\u2019re launching Routes to Logistics thanks to funding from the Tilbury CLLD programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project aims to improve the lives of residents in Tilbury by helping them to overcome obstacles to employment and take a significant step to moving into jobs, education or training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI encourage anyone who is eligible and interested in working in the transport and logistics industry
