{"id":90822,"date":"2021-03-23T08:18:24","date_gmt":"2021-03-23T08:18:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=90822"},"modified":"2021-03-23T08:18:24","modified_gmt":"2021-03-23T08:18:24","slug":"hs2-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/hs2-opportunities\/90822\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottish contractors urged to seize HS2 opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Potential contracts with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hs2.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HS2<\/a> are not just about track and trains \u2013 companies in Scotland are being encouraged to bid for millions of pounds worth of upcoming contracts<\/h2>\n<p>Over 2,000 businesses have already won <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/engineering-management-contract\/90029\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">work on the project<\/a>, with UK-based businesses making up 98% of contracts.<\/p>\n<p>HS2\u2019s construction partners are seeking to engage businesses across a broad range of sectors from catering services, designers and ecologists to logistics and electronic components.<\/p>\n<p>With construction of the first phase of HS2 between Birmingham and London progressing at pace and the railway\u2019s journey further North now confirmed, following the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/phase-2a-of-hs2-to-crewe\/88935\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">green light from government to extend to Crewe<\/a>, HS2\u2019s construction partners are reaching out to tier two and three providers to bid for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/hs2-contract-opportunities\/90110\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">upcoming subcontract opportunities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>HS2 Ltd has already awarded around \u00a318bn worth of contracts, with a significant proportion of this value expected to flow out to the wider supply chain.\u00a0By the end of 2022, it\u2019s estimated this figure will reach around \u00a325bn.<\/p>\n<h3>Getting \u2018HS2 ready\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>As the UK strives to build back better, businesses of all sizes are encouraged to get \u2018HS2 ready\u2019 and seize the opportunity to play a part in revolutionising our railways.<\/p>\n<p>HS2 Ltd and its construction partners use the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.competefor.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CompeteFor<\/a>\u00a0model to help match demand with supply.<\/p>\n<p>All subcontract opportunities are advertised on the portal, and businesses who set up a company profile can receive tailored alerts to opportunities that match their trade.<\/p>\n<h3>A huge opportunity for businesses in Scotland<\/h3>\n<p>Robin Lapish, HS2\u2019s supply chain manager, said: \u201cScotland has a huge talent pool and leads the way in sectors including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/construction-projects-data\/89663\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">technology and engineering<\/a>, creative industries, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/network-rail-carbom-emissions\/84652\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">renewables and low carbon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are countless opportunities for local businesses to be winning work into the next decade and beyond.
