{"id":91113,"date":"2021-03-26T10:55:28","date_gmt":"2021-03-26T10:55:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=91113"},"modified":"2021-03-26T10:55:28","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T10:55:28","slug":"power-supply-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/power-supply-systems\/91113\/","title":{"rendered":"Bidders shortlisted for \u00a3523m HS2 power supply systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>HS2 has revealed the four bidders which have been shortlisted for a \u00a3523m contract to deliver high voltage supply systems<\/h2>\n<p>The winner of the contract will be responsible for the design as well as manufacture, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the high voltage power supply systems.<\/p>\n<p>The contract, worth an estimated \u00a3523m, covers the design and construction between London, Birmingham and Crewe, where HS2 trains will join the existing West Coast Mainline.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 50 traction sub-stations will be built alongside the line between London and Crewe in order to deliver power from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgrid.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Grid<\/a> to the trains.<\/p>\n<p>The contractor will also deliver a dedicated HV non-traction power network that will provide power to stations, shafts, portals, depots and railway systems along the route.<\/p>\n<p>Electricity will come from the national grid, so as the UK\u2019s power supply transitions to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/hs2-reinforce-concrete\/90383\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">entirely renewable sources<\/a>, journeys on HS2 will become carbon neutral.<\/p>\n<p>The successful Tenderer will be responsible for design and will be expected to work closely with HS2\u2019s other rail systems suppliers to ensure integration of its design and throughout construction, testing and commissioning.<\/p>\n<h3>The following organisations will be invited to tender:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Colas \/ Eiffage Joint Venture<\/li>\n<li>Siemens Ltd \/ Costain Ltd Joint Venture<\/li>\n<li>SSE Enterprise Contracting \/ Linxon \/ Arcadis Joint Venture<\/li>\n<li>UK Power Networks Services (Contracting) Ltd<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The HV Power Systems will be a single-stage procurement, with the successful tenderer delivering two separate contracts covering Design &amp;
