Amey<\/a>\u2019s ‘Social Value Report<\/a>‘ reveals it has become a real living wage employer<\/a>, purchased 100% renewable energy and has spent \u00a34.7m with the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector<\/h2>\n

Amey has released its 2020 Social Value Report which reveals its progress in delivering against social value initiatives, along with its ambitions for the year ahead.<\/p>\n

Amey has recognised the opportunity to have a positive impact on the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the communities in which it operates.<\/p>\n

By embedding social value practices across the business, the company is delivering change in local communities and helping Britain ‘build back better<\/a>‘.<\/p>\n

Amanda Fisher, Amey\u2019s chief executive, said: \u201cAfter launching our Social Value Plan early last year, Covid-19 has highlighted the important role we play at the heart of our communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur teams have kept essential services running and demonstrated their personal pride in public service on a daily basis. I\u2019m delighted that our 2020 Social Value Report tells the story of our increased investment and commitment to our employees.<\/p>\n

\u201cLooking beyond Amey, we recognise that Covid-19 has hit the least privileged hardest. As a business our ambition is to contribute to the most vulnerable in our society.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cSo we will be backing young people through the government\u2019s kickstart programme<\/a>, as well as investing in apprentices to create our future industry leaders.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to support small business and local enterprises through our supply chain \u2013 creating jobs and boosting new skills<\/a>. And we will provide opportunities to the long-term unemployed, military veterans and prison leavers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is my commitment for 2021 and beyond because the decisions we make today will have an impact on the years to come as the effects of the pandemic continue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emily Davies, head of social impact, added: \u201cOur aim is to leave communities in a better place than when we arrived, and as an organisation that delivers public services across the UK, it is our role and our commitment to work with and empower our employees, our suppliers, our customers, and our wider networks to genuinely be a force for positive change and long-term benefit to society.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t underestimate the growth in inequality that the pandemic has laid bare and the damaging impact it will have.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cOur focus in the coming year will continue to be based on partnership, working with local experts and organisation to reach out and provide development and employment opportunities<\/a> across our communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also recognise that climate change is no longer the concern of the few and this year we achieved milestones that saw 100% procurement of renewable energy however we also recognise that beyond our own emissions our real commitment for change is through ensuring net-zero principles sit within the design and maintenance of the assets we manage \u2013 from schools, to prisons, to roads and rail.\u201d<\/p>\n
