{"id":91314,"date":"2021-03-31T09:49:43","date_gmt":"2021-03-31T08:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=91314"},"modified":"2021-03-31T09:49:43","modified_gmt":"2021-03-31T08:49:43","slug":"engie-fire-safety-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/engie-fire-safety-contract\/91314\/","title":{"rendered":"ENGIE secures \u00a3120m contract to deliver fire remediation works"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engie.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ENGIE<\/a> has been appointed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optivo.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Optivo<\/a> to deliver fire remediation work worth \u00a3120m, which will see both organisations work closely with residents to provide comprehensive solutions<\/h2>\n<p>The partnership between Optivo and Engie means the process can now move forward to deliver the vital fire remediation works.<\/p>\n<p>The specialist works will include the removal and replacement of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/combustible-materials-step-further\/77053\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">combustible materials<\/a> to external wall systems, including cavity barriers; the removal and replacement of any non-compliant spandrel panels and balconies.<\/p>\n<p>ENGIE has confirmed energy efficiency will play an integral part in the planning and design.<\/p>\n<p>It also plans to access funding and work with residents and Optivo to deliver these technologies and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/net-zero-energy-homes-exeter\/71865\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reduce the risk of fuel poverty<\/a> for residents.<\/p>\n<p>The fire safety contract, which starts next month, will see ENGIE embark on several months of extensive investigation and design work across various buildings.<\/p>\n<p>ENGIE has promised a recruitment drive to provide jobs and opportunities for local people and suppliers during the seven-year delivery.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation will also offer eight apprenticeships per year.<\/p>\n<p>The programme will be delivered over seven years, with work onsite due to begin this summer.<\/p>\n<h3>&#8216;Vital&#8217; fire remediation works<\/h3>\n<p>Dan Germann, regional managing director for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engie.co.uk\/places\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ENGIE\u2019s Places &amp; Communities<\/a> division, said:\u00a0\u201cOptivo has a very clear directive and the significance of this work isn\u2019t lost on anybody.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the experience, technology, skills and systems in place to work within the golden thread framework \u2013 which was a requisite of the delivery \u2013 but we are also perfectly placed to bring net-zero solutions to the table;
