Manners and Sons<\/a> have all secured contracts for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gentoogroup.com\/for-customers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gentoo Group<\/a>\u2019s affordable housing scheme<\/h2>\n<p>Gentoo has appointed the contractors to build 58 new homes for rent across the sites in Sunderland, the next stage of its multimillion-pound affordable housing plan.<\/p>\n<p>ENGIE has secured two new contracts in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/tag\/affordable-housing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">affordable housing<\/a> plan, worth almost \u00a34m.<\/p>\n<p>The contractor will lead work on two new sites in Sunderland; building 11 new homes at Cricklewood Road in Hylton Castle and 10 modular homes at Prestbury Road in Pennywell.<\/p>\n<p>In line with its commitment to the North of England, the housing association has announced two regional contractors will also be working with the company for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>T.Manners and Sons and Esh Construction will both build new homes in Sunderland.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/hexham-bunker-transformation\/82493\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Esh Construction will build<\/a> 24 new homes at Eastbourne Square in Carley Hill with a contract worth \u00a33.5m, while T.Manners and Sons will lead the \u00a32.4m regeneration of the Group\u2019s Conishead Centre office in Silksworth into 13 two and three-bedroom homes for rent.<\/p>\n<p>As a values-driven organisation, Gentoo Group has included a social value commitment in each of its contracts meaning all of the contractors are required to ensure the new developments benefit the local community.<\/p>\n<p>Construction work is set to commence on the site in the coming weeks, with the first homes expected to be available for rent in late 2021.<\/p>\n<h3>Employing a local workforce<\/h3>\n<p>Gary Dobson, divisional director at Esh Construction, said:\u00a0\u201cWe are delighted to have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/travelodge-at-cobalt-business-park\/85820\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">awarded the contract<\/a> for the Eastbourne Square development, marking the start of Esh\u2019s relationship to deliver affordable new build homes on behalf of Gentoo Group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough our strong regional presence and robust local supply chain, we will ensure we maximise community wealth building by employing a local workforce and procuring local supply.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Louise Buckton, new build director at ENGIE, said: \u201cWe are very pleased to be continuing our long-running partnership with Gentoo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver a number of years, we have worked together to provide high-quality housing and we are delighted to be continuing to support communities across Sunderland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur modular homes project in Pennywell is another example of ENGIE working with Gentoo to use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/platform-construction-innovation\/87881\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">innovative building<\/a> techniques to provide the best quality of living for future residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Simon Manners, managing director at T.Manners and Sons, added: \u201cWe are delighted to have secured the contract to deliver affordable homes at Silksworth and we look forward to working with Gentoo in the coming months on this exciting new project.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"mk-custom-module-container\">\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ENGIE, Esh Construction and T.
