Irvine Housing Association<\/a> and Connect Modular<\/a> are set to deliver Scotland\u2019s largest social modular housing development in South Ayrshire<\/h2>\n

The \u00a39.8m social modular housing<\/a> project will deliver 63 new affordable homes \u2013 the first phase of a 250-strong property development located at the site.<\/p>\n

The first affordable homes will be made available to Irvine Housing Association customers before the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Work begins this month on the site at Kilmarnock Road, Dundonald.<\/p>\n

The development will see a blend of house types, including one bedroom flats, three-bedroom houses and two-bedroom amenity bungalows.<\/p>\n

The project is Irvine Housing Association\u2019s first development in South Ayrshire and will be an addition to their existing portfolio of 2,000 homes across North Ayrshire, East Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway.<\/p>\n

Connect Modular, a division of The Wee House Company, specialises in modular construction<\/a> and will design and fabricate all houses in their Ayrshire factory.<\/p>\n

The homes will be 90% complete when they depart the factory with kitchens, bathrooms, plumbing and electrics installed, facilitating a significantly shorter build programme and earlier occupancy.<\/p>\n

\u2018Embracing evolution in construction\u2019<\/h3>\n

Jennifer Higgins, managing director of The Wee House Company, said: \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to be working with Irvine Housing Association to create such an innovative housing development.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe use of modular construction improves build quality and means homes will be available for occupancy earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201cIrvine Housing\u2019s willingness to embrace this evolution in construction has been key to the scale of the project.<\/p>\n
