House by Urban Splash<\/a> has been granted planning permission to deliver 98 homes in the next phase of development at Port Loop, Birmingham\u2019s new island community<\/h2>\n

All 98 properties will be built offsite in House by Urban Splash\u2019s modular housing factory<\/a> using modern methods of construction<\/a> (MMC) before being craned into place<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Just over half of these homes will be a new house type for Port Loop: Row House.<\/p>\n

Representing a modern mews house, or \u2018Urban Cottage\u2019, Row House brings a more compact terrace form to Port Loop\u2019s portfolio at an affordable price range; meaning more people can get on the housing ladder with a home customised to meet their individual lifestyle needs.<\/p>\n

In total, Port Loop will deliver 1,150 new homes, in addition to new retail and leisure spaces. The Floating Front Room \u2013 an outdoor coffee shop on the canal \u2013 is already open at Port Loop, as is YARD, Birmingham\u2019s first Art House.<\/p>\n

In addition to their own private terraces, the new homes will have large, central communal gardens for residents to use, with some of the Town Houses enjoying an enviable waterfront location overlooking the canal that surrounds the 43-acre neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

A one-acre public park has also been delivered at Port Loop<\/a> and is set to host numerous community events over the summer. Residents and the local community can take advantage of free kayak lessons aimed at encouraging more people to use the canal around Port Loop.<\/p>\n

Urban Splash will be delivering a new section of public towpath, helping to create a cycle loop around the neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

Located just a 15-minute walk from Birmingham city centre, prices for the new homes are expected to start from around \u00a3300,000 for a two-storey, Row House property.<\/p>\n

Glenn Howells Architects<\/a> (GHA) are the master planners for Port Loop, with the housing designed by Shed KM and GHA.<\/p>\n

Landscaping has been done by Grant Associates<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A transformational project<\/h3>\n

Adam Willetts, project director for Port Loop, said: \u201cWe\u2019re very excited to move forward with this next phase at Port Loop and introduce Row House to the neighbourhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe past year has made a lot of people rethink what they look for in a new home, with green space and flexible living top of many people\u2019s wish lists; both of which are key characteristics of life at Port Loop.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsing sustainable MMC technology, we are able to improve both the quality and speed of delivery of new homes.<\/p>\n

“Following this planning approval, our aim is for the first Row Houses to go on sale this spring and be delivered to site just later in the summer.\u201d<\/p>\n
