\"Mile<\/h2>\n

Gracewood Group<\/a> and EastendHomes<\/a> will provide 142 new homes on Eric Estate in London along with further estate refurbishment work, construction is already underway<\/h2>\n

Gracewood Group will bring rooftop homes<\/a> to Mile End in the largest airspace development scheme in the UK.<\/p>\n

Almost 80% of the homes will be delivered for affordable rent and intermediate home opportunities, with Gracewood Group keen to emphasise that rooftop development can maximise space in the capital and make a real contribution to housing supply.<\/p>\n

The homes are designed to match the existing buildings using yellow stock brick with a mixture of glazed elevations, recessed balconies and glass panelling. Communal interiors will include improved access and lifts to both existing and new apartments.<\/p>\n

The studio, one, two and three-bedroom homes will sit two-storeys high, atop five existing low rise apartment blocks with a further 11 apartments being developed in a former garage space.<\/p>\n

Gracewood Group will make significant improvements to communal areas, landscaping and play spaces to enhance the public realm.<\/p>\n

This will include upgrades to play equipment, as well as creating 251 new cycle parking spaces.<\/p>\n

The first phase is scheduled to complete in Q3 2022.<\/p>\n

The scheme will ‘significantly’ improve the area<\/h3>\n

Charles Pear, director at Gracewood, said: \u201cThis is an exciting and much-anticipated project that will set a precedent for future airspace developments, something we believe forms part of the solution to the UK\u2019s housing shortage<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis work in Mile End will further enhance the Eric estate, providing much needed new quality homes using innovative modern construction methods<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“We are proud to be working with a well-respected local housing association to provide genuinely affordable homes for local people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Steve Inkpen, director of special projects and new business at EastendHomes, added: \u201cThis scheme is now underway and once completed will provide much needed new homes for those who need them in our area.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is excellent that almost 80% of them will be affordable and that Gracewood will be working with residents to improve the estate.<\/p>\n

“Outside space is very important to our residents too and by providing play areas and better landscaping.\u201d<\/p>\n
