Structural steel group, Severfield<\/a> has signed up to the SteelZero initiative to speed up the transition to a net zero steel industry<\/h2>\n

Severfield has strengthened its commitment to reducing carbon emissions<\/a> by signing up to SteelZero.<\/p>\n

SteelZero is led by the international non-profit organisations, the Climate Group<\/a> and Responsible Steel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The initiative aims to drive a major shift in the global market for the responsible sourcing and production of steel.<\/p>\n

An increasing number of steel buyers have signed up to SteelZero<\/a>, both in the UK and internationally.<\/p>\n

Targeting net zero steel from the demand-side of the supply chain makes this the first initiative of its kind, with the potential for it to have significant impact on investment, policy, manufacturing, and production in the construction sector.<\/p>\n

By signing up, Severfield says it is making a public commitment to transition to procuring, specifying, or stocking 100% net zero steel by 2050, with certain interim targets to be achieved by 2030.<\/p>\n

\u2018Clean and sustainable steel\u2019<\/h3>\n

Jenny Chu, head of energy productivity initiatives at the Climate Group, said:\u00a0\u201cWe are delighted that Severfield, one of the UK’s leading structural steel construction<\/a> companies, has become the latest member to join SteelZero.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe initiative gives forward-looking companies a springboard from which they can use their collective purchasing power and influence to demonstrate there is strong demand for clean and sustainable steel.\u201d<\/p>\n
