Plans have been submitted for the latest phase of the Island Quarter development, which will deliver 702-bed student accommodation in Nottingham<\/h2>\n

The designs \u2013 drawn up by\u00a0DAY Architects<\/a>\u00a0and submitted by\u00a0The Conygar Investment Company PLC<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 reveal a 702-bed purpose-built student development in the The Island Quarter, featuring a range of accommodation types including studios and cluster living.<\/p>\n

Amenities for the students in this latest phase of The Island Quarter<\/a> include sky lounges that offer projected views across the city and a pavilion with views onto a private courtyard space.<\/p>\n

The student accommodation will support The Island Quarter\u2019s plans for intergenerational living across the site, with rental apartments forming part of phase 1B \u2013 which is currently in for planning \u2013 and future plans for family housing.<\/p>\n

\u2018An exciting step\u2019<\/h3>\n

Christopher Ware, property director at Conygar, said: \u201cThe plans submitted today are an exciting step for The Island Quarter development.<\/p>\n

\u201cNottingham has a fantastic reputation as a university city, and the growth of the student population over the last few years reflects that.<\/p>\n

\u201cPurpose built student accommodation<\/a> means more choice for students and less on them to live in traditional houses in residential areas of the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur aim for The Island Quarter is true intergenerational living, with housing and accommodation that works for all.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the biggest impacts of the pandemic has been that people of all ages are reassessing their relationship with where they live, and we want to create places and spaces where people can live, work and thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tom Exell, director of architecture at DAY Architects, commented: \u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to see the scheme reach this significant milestone.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will be truly high-end student accommodation, offering exceptional living and amenity spaces whilst providing unparalleled, immediate access to public and private external space, something we feel will be key to the health and wellbeing<\/a> of residents, particularly as we emerge from the pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re extremely proud to be part of this flagship development for Nottingham and feel phase two will be another example of Conygar\u2019s commitment to quality design across the entire masterplan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alex Jones, director at engineering consultancy\u00a0Couch Perry Wilkes<\/a>, added: \u201cThe Island Quarter is a significant development for Nottingham and the Midlands as a whole.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to be working with the team for the student accommodation phase of the site, which will bring much needed residential capacity to support the city\u2019s growing universities.\u201d<\/p>\n

If approved, the scheme will be available from September 2023.<\/p>\n
