rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction Innovation Hub<\/a> has been launched to help local authorities transform how they design, build and use their buildings digitally<\/h2>\n<p>The Local Authority Government Soft Landings (GSL) Interactive Navigator has been developed in association with the <a href=\"https:\/\/nacf.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Association of Construction Frameworks<\/a> (NACF) and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Local Government Association<\/a> (LGA) to help councils to get the most out of their buildings and estates.<\/p>\n<p>The GSL framework asks and answers key questions about how a building or asset will be used to ensure that user needs are central to the design and construction process.<\/p>\n<p>It also supports a smooth transition (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/government-soft-landings\/85187\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">soft landing<\/a>) between design and construction teams and the people that operate and use public buildings and facilities.<\/p>\n<h3>At the heart of planning, design and construction<\/h3>\n<p>David Philp, the Construction Innovation Hub\u2019s digital impact director, said: \u201cGovernment Soft Landings (GSL) is all about a focus on the long-term use and performance of an asset which is especially important for local councils who manage a complex <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/soft-landing-report\/78060\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">portfolio of buildings and assets<\/a> and have to consider value for money for the taxpayer as well as delivering on their commitments to reduce carbon emissions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGSL is fundamental to maintaining the \u2018golden thread\u2019 of a facility\u2019s purpose by aligning the interests of those who commission, design and construct an asset with those who use and maintain it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe approach supports greater collaborative work, best practice and shared learnings throughout the supply chain so all partners embrace a whole-life mindset, and are working to a shared goal of putting people&#8217;s needs at the heart of construction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhole-life value is at the heart of these projects and at the very core of the Government Soft Landings (GSL) approach as its guidance puts the end user at the heart of the planning, design and construction process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Keith Heard, chair of NACF, added: \u201cThe need to improve the value offered by our construction activities is a key objective of the Local Government Soft Landings strategy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGSL can help to transform the briefing design, construction and handover process, to maintain a \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/golden-thread-construction-data\/88159\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">golden thread<\/a>\u2019 of a public building or facility\u2019s purpose and also enables structured monitoring of performance standards during delivery and facility operation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis interactive process map will help you to practically apply GSL on your project.\u201d<\/p>\n<div
