Transport for Greater Manchester<\/a> (TfGM) has appointed Arup to their \u2018Transport Professional Services\u2019 (TPS) framework to make journeys more sustainable<\/h2>\n

Delivered over a four-year term, the Transport Professional Services 2020 framework will focus on providing Greater Manchester with a wide range of transport projects and programmes.<\/p>\n

The projects will support the city region\u2019s goal for 50% of all journeys to be made by walking, cycling and public transport by 2040 and its ambition to achieve net-zero by 2038<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The firm has been awarded places on 14 lots, which cover a range of strategic and technical services including; Transport strategy and policy advice, transport systems design, environmental and sustainability services, engineering services including \u2018Streets for All\u2019 design, highway asset and network management services and consultation activity.<\/p>\n

The appointment continues a longstanding and successful collaborative relationship between TfGM and Arup.<\/p>\n

It follows the firm\u2019s recent work as lead advisor for the Greater Manchester Clean Air Plan<\/a> and TfGM\u2019s Active Neighbourhoods project<\/a>, which sees Arup working closely with local communities to design ten low traffic neighbourhood schemes.<\/p>\n

Transition to a zero-carbon economy<\/h3>\n

The new framework replaces TfGM\u2019s previous TPS framework, which came to an end in March 2021.<\/p>\n

Over 30 participating authorities can use the framework including Transport for the North, Greater Manchester Combined Authority and many other transport, combined and local authorities across the North of England.<\/p>\n
