{"id":93815,"date":"2021-05-24T12:20:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-24T11:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=93815"},"modified":"2021-05-25T08:53:23","modified_gmt":"2021-05-25T07:53:23","slug":"londons-latest-skyscrapper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/londons-latest-skyscrapper\/93815\/","title":{"rendered":"Mace completes London&#8217;s latest skyscraper"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.macegroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mace<\/a> has completed One Crown Place, the latest landmark in London, on behalf of clients <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mtdgroup.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MTD Group<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbre.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CBRE<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>The development will deliver a total of 246 private apartments and a fully restored Georgian terrace which is being transformed into a 41-room hotel and 140,000 sq ft of premium office space.<\/p>\n<p>Composed of concrete and glass with deep steel trusses at the base, the fa\u00e7ade of the adjacent 28- and 34-storey towers are made up of glazed terracotta.<\/p>\n<p>The design combines original <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/heritage-building-bim\/92594\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">heritage buildings<\/a> with modern architecture from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kpf.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kohn Pedersen Fox<\/a> (KPF).<\/p>\n<p>Mace has used <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/construction-technology-news\/modern-methods-of-construction-guide\/63966\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">modern methods of construction<\/a> and the latest technology to deliver One Crown Place.<\/p>\n<p>Working together with <a href=\"https:\/\/disperse.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Disperse<\/a>, the team has visually tracked construction progress while using data to address inefficiencies, redefining the boundaries of delivery.<\/p>\n<p>Mace has delivered One Crown Place as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breeam.com\/BREEAM2011SchemeDocument\/Content\/03_ScoringRating\/scoring.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BREEAM Excellent<\/a> rated project. This was achieved through high performance glazing to control solar gain and heat loss, energy efficient lighting and daylight sensors.<\/p>\n<p>Global property firm CBRE was appointed by MTD Group in 2015 to act as both development manager and project manager to market the site\u2019s 246 private apartments and 140,000 sq ft of commercial space.<\/p>\n<h3>An iconic mixed-use development for London<\/h3>\n<p>Gareth Lewis, CEO for construct at Mace, said: \u201cWorking alongside MTD Group whose leadership and vision was vital for the landmark scheme\u2019s success, we strived for an innovative approach to deliver One Crown Place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRedefining the boundaries of construction delivery, our team used new digital tools and cutting-edge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/structural-insulated-panel-systems\/73533\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">structural steel installation<\/a> as part of our delivery strategy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project represented a complex construction challenge;
