of a call on the construction industry to attract the next generation<\/h2>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"YmIFomXHfGU\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Where it All Begins - Film Launch\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YmIFomXHfGU?start=1&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The film offers an exciting view of the opportunities that the construction industry offers for young people by showcasing a young girl&#8217;s journey around her home city of Liverpool where she gets inspired by the buildings, transport environment, and technology she encounters.<\/p>\n<p>It aims to challenge the misconceptions about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/construction-industry-unite\/88873\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">careers within construction<\/a> and encourage Gen Z and Gen Alpha \u2013 along with educators and parents \u2013\u00a0to consider a path to the industry.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the UK government set its new climate target for 2035, so there is an even greater imperative to attract STEM talent to secure the future of a decarbonised industry.<\/p>\n<p>In March this year, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionleadershipcouncil.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction Leadership Council<\/a> (CLC) published the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionleadershipcouncil.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/B06322_CLC_SkillsPlan_v27.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first sector-wide skills plan for construction<\/a>, highlighting the importance of enhancing technical, digital and modern methods of construction skills across the sector and traditional competencies.<\/p>\n<p>The industry is rich in opportunities for an incredibly diverse range of career-seekers \u2013\u00a0a message that\u00a0for more than a decade COYO\u2019s \u2018Design, Engineer, Construct!\u2019 (DEC) learning programme has shared with children and young people.<\/p>\n<h3>Fulfilling careers in the sector<\/h3>\n<p>Lucie Wright, careers strategy manager at CITB, said: \u201cWe know young people need role models from similar backgrounds to them to see a potential career path, and this video does just that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt provides compelling viewing of how a young person gains inspiration to explore their passion and engage with the industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d love young people to watch this and be inspired to join us, and head to Go Construct if they want to find out more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nicola Pearson, head of skills and knowledge exchange, for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdbb.cam.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Centre for Digital Built Britain<\/a> and the Construction Innovation Hub, said: \u201cBuilt environment organisations deliver, operate and maintain the buildings in which we live and work and the infrastructure which delivers services for us
