{"id":94271,"date":"2021-06-03T08:42:50","date_gmt":"2021-06-03T07:42:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=94271"},"modified":"2021-06-03T08:42:50","modified_gmt":"2021-06-03T07:42:50","slug":"loughborough-school-regeneration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/loughborough-school-regeneration\/94271\/","title":{"rendered":"Work underway at \u00a39.8m Loughborough school regeneration"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.willmottdixon.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Willmott Dixon<\/a> has commenced construction works on a modular extension and refurbishment at Iveshead School in Shepshed, Loughborough to accommodate new housing growth across the region<\/h2>\n<p>Procured through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scape.co.uk\/for-the-public-sector\/construction\/major-works-uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SCAPE Major Works Framework<\/a>, the project being funded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leicestershire.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Leicestershire County Council<\/a> and designed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpmg-architects.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CPMG Architects<\/a>. It will bring the existing Iveshead Secondary School together into a single building while relocating St Botolph\u2019s Church of England Primary School to the former Shepshed High School building.<\/p>\n<p>Willmott Dixon will ensure each phase of the project is delivered safely and seamlessly to the agreed timescales, ensuring minimal disruption to nearby pupils and staff.<\/p>\n<p>Iveshead Secondary School will benefit from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/lsbu-refurbishment-project\/68742\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">full refurbishment<\/a>, six-classroom extension, the creation of a school foyer entrance, outdoor canopy and hard play areas, staff and student cycle spaces, and new and enhanced pathways and external landscaping works.<\/p>\n<p>The former Shepshed High School <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/willmott-dixon-to-deliver-lincolnshire-public-sector-hub\/93753\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">building will then be refurbished<\/a> to make its facilities suitable for younger pupils and the existing St Botolph\u2019s Church of England Primary School will be demolished.<\/p>\n<p>Willmott Dixon will be delivering the equivalent of \u00a3490,000 social return on investment back into the local community through careers enrichment programmes and site visits, employability workshops and work experience for local students.<\/p>\n<h3>Improving educational facilities for local students<\/h3>\n<p>Nick Heath, director of delivery at Willmott Dixon, said: \u201cWe\u2019ve worked closely with the council
