{"id":94392,"date":"2021-06-04T14:06:36","date_gmt":"2021-06-04T13:06:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=94392"},"modified":"2021-06-04T14:06:36","modified_gmt":"2021-06-04T13:06:36","slug":"new-prison-academy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/new-prison-academy\/94392\/","title":{"rendered":"Amey and Bell Group launches new prison academy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Securing employment is a key part of successful reintegration back into society upon prison release, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amey.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amey<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bellgroup.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bell Group<\/a> have teamed up with the <a href=\"https:\/\/newfuturesnetwork.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Futures Network<\/a> to create a series of academies that will help transform lives and reduce reoffending<\/h2>\n<p>The new prison academy at HMP Hewell and Featherstone will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/amey-hmp-maintenance-programme\/57840\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">provide prisoners with an opportunity<\/a> to gain an industry-recognised vocational qualification in painting and decorating and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscs.uk.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Construction Skills Certification Scheme<\/a> card to help them move straight into employment when back in the community.<\/p>\n<p>The partnership builds on the successful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cscs.uk.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amey CRED<\/a> (Clean, Rehabilitative, Enabling, Decent) programme, which currently runs in 24 prisons and provides prisoners with the opportunity to learn new skills and gain valuable work experience on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amey.co.uk\/what-we-do\/secure-infrastructure\/moj-prisons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Amey Prison Facilities Management<\/a> team.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone who successfully graduates from the academy will have the opportunity for a role at Bell as part of a broader effort to reduce re-offending and help the construction industry tackle its skills shortage.<\/p>\n<p>The new academy is part of Amey&#8217;s commitment to ensure that as a business, they play an active role in making a lasting impact on communities, people and the environment in the areas they operate<\/p>\n<h3>Reduce re-offending and bridge the gap<\/h3>\n<p>Anna Higham, head of corporate &amp;
