(NEF) has launched the UK\u2019s first verification scheme for home retrofits<\/h2>\n<p>The SuperHomes Network and Rating Scheme has been redeveloped as part of NEF\u2019s mission to promote sustainable housing and to reduce <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/futureproofing-developments\/84008\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">greenhouse gas emissions<\/a> from existing UK properties.<\/p>\n<p>NEF is aiming to create one million SuperHomes by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve this mission, the SuperHomes team has developed a network of individuals, organisations and partners to work alongside property owners to reach SuperHomes status.<\/p>\n<p>The SuperHomes Network has been revamped to give members access to knowledge about home retrofit, energy efficiency, renewable energy and home comfort as well as access to free events and workshops.<\/p>\n<p>Members will be able share <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/new-build-retrofit\/91565\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">retrofit knowledge<\/a>, resources and best practice to deliver high performing homes whether they be a homeowner, landlord, professional or supplier to the industry.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Inspiring change and measuring success\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Sandra Hayes, director of development at the National Energy Foundation, said: \u201cWe\u2019re excited to be relaunching the SuperHomes project 13 years after it was initially developed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring this time, our understanding of the impact of housing on the environment has greatly increased and the SuperHomes Network and Rating Scheme are key to inspiring change and measuring success in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/building-decarbonisation\/74802\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">decarbonisation<\/a> of UK housing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The newly developed SuperHomes Rating Scheme monitors and evaluates homes against three criteria \u2013 carbon dioxide emissions per square metre, residual (regulated) carbon dioxide emissions and health and comfort.<\/p>\n<p>After 12 months of monitoring, homes are awarded a star rating of between one to five, with five being a zero-carbon retrofit.<\/p>\n<p>Funding for the redevelopment of the SuperHomes Rating Scheme was provided by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcscharitablefoundation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MCS Charitable Foundation<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/innovate-uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Innovate UK<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div
