Etopia Homes<\/a> has begun work on its Juniper Place site in East Cambridgeshire to deliver 30 \u2018net-zero\u2019 modular homes<\/h2>\n

Located in Wilburton, Juniper Place<\/a> is Etopia\u2019s first in East Cambridgeshire and will provide the local community with some of the UK\u2019s most energy-efficient modular homes.<\/p>\n

The homes being delivered will achieve an Energy Performance Certificate Rating (EPC) rating well above the highest category of \u2018A\u2019. In the UK, only 1% of new builds are \u2018A\u2019 rated, while the average rating is \u2018D\u2019.<\/p>\n

The homes at Juniper Place will also be the first in the UK to achieve an EDGE<\/a> Advanced Certification, which requires each home to achieve at least a 40% saving on energy when compared to current building regulations<\/a>, and at least a 20% saving in water and embodied carbon.<\/p>\n

Before arriving on site, the components will be manufactured at Etopia Homes\u2019 Cheshire factory, which uses the company\u2019s \u2018hyper structurally insulated\u2019 panelised system. Once complete, the panels will be delivered to Wilburton and installed to form a home\u2019s \u2018superstructure\u2019 \u2013 a process that takes as little as three days.<\/p>\n

\u2018Energy-efficient living is accessible\u2019<\/h3>\n

Joseph Daniels, CEO and founder at Etopia Group, said:<\/strong> \u201cAs the UK economy continues on its transition to net-zero and energy prices rise at their fastest rate since the onset of the pandemic, there has never been a more urgent time to ramp up the delivery of energy-efficient housing, renewable energy and reduced energy costs.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreen homes should be made readily available for all, including households on lower incomes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the UK is to meet its legally-binding net zero targets<\/a>, then it\u2019s up to housebuilders to show that energy-efficient living is accessible and need not come at high prices.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Juniper Place we\u2019ve set out to demonstrate this in practical terms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Works at Juniper Place are expected to be completed in early 2022.<\/p>\n
