Facilities provide all the usual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/fm-contract\/81889\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">operational needs of the fire service<\/a> plus there are meeting rooms, a gym, shower rooms, car chargers and kitchen facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Kier worked with its local and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/supply-chain-framework\/81867\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">specialist supply chain partners<\/a>, of which 83% were from a 30 mile radius of Brixham to deliver the project.<\/p>\n<p>Procured as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/scfframeworks.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Southern Construction Framework<\/a>, the building utilises energy efficient systems includes air source heat pumps and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/uk-solar-industry\/94862\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">solar PV<\/a>, combined with high levels of insulation ensuring the building reduces long term running costs.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a31.7m project, which involved the demolition of the existing fire station and the building of a new fire station, was delivered from Spring 2020 and completed in May 2021 throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, following all Government guidance and working to Covid-19 specific <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/site-operating-procedures-released\/76379\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Site Operating Procedures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>The SCF procurement approach<\/h3>\n<p>Doug Lloyd, operations director for Kier Regional Building Western &amp;
