{"id":95003,"date":"2021-06-21T08:22:36","date_gmt":"2021-06-21T07:22:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=95003"},"modified":"2021-06-21T08:22:36","modified_gmt":"2021-06-21T07:22:36","slug":"wates-planning-approval-romford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/wates-planning-approval-romford\/95003\/","title":{"rendered":"Wates gets the go-ahead for new homes in Romford"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Proposals for 1,380 new homes at Waterloo and Queen Street in Romford have been approved by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.havering.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Havering Council<\/a>\u2019s strategic planning committee<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/demolition-underway-at-waterloo-and-queen\/93204\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The scheme<\/a> forms part of Havering Council\u2019s \u201912 Estates\u2019 regeneration programme with joint venture partners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wates.co.uk\/services\/wates-residential\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wates Residential<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Seeking to double the amount of council accommodation and more than double the number of affordable homes, the \u00a31.5bn programme will see at least 3,500 high-quality new homes delivered in Havering over the next 12 to 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/waterloo-estate-regeneration\/77408\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">plans include over 550 affordable homes<\/a> for local people, in the form of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes built from high-quality and traditional building materials, more than doubling the number of council rented homes currently on the site and in addition providing 146 low-cost homeownership opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Wates Residential is part of leading privately-owned construction, property services and development company, the Wates Group, and alongside Havering Council has made a commitment to buy British wherever possible, with 20% of the joint venture\u2019s spend going to local SMEs, valued at \u00a3100m.<\/p>\n<p>The joint venture partners are also working to increase education, skills and training opportunities in Havering by working with local schools and colleges.<\/p>\n<p>Since its inception in 2018, the Havering and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/haverings-regeneration-programme\/56941\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wates joint venture has secured planning<\/a> on both Napier and New Plymouth House in Rainham and Solar Serena Sunrise in Hornchurch.
