{"id":96079,"date":"2021-07-13T09:47:51","date_gmt":"2021-07-13T08:47:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=96079"},"modified":"2021-07-13T09:47:51","modified_gmt":"2021-07-13T08:47:51","slug":"57m-featherstone-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/57m-featherstone-building\/96079\/","title":{"rendered":"Skanska &#8216;tops out&#8217; at new \u00a357m Featherstone building"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skanska.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Skanska<\/a> has reached a crucial milestone on the \u00a357m mixed-use commercial development at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefeatherstonebuilding.london\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Featherstone Building<\/a>\u00a0with a topping out ceremony<\/h2>\n<p>The rooftop ceremony marked reaching the highest point of construction, with the Scandinavian good luck tradition of flying a fir tree over the building by tower crane, together with pouring the final area of concrete.<\/p>\n<p>Contributing to Skanska\u2019s target of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.skanska.co.uk\/499e8f\/siteassets\/about-skanska\/sustainability\/carbon\/skanska-uk-low-carbon-report-2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2045<\/a> &#8211; including its supply chain, the building is striving for BREEAM Outstanding and LEED Platinum environmental accreditations.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve these the building will be supplied by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/electric-vehicle-policy\/85874\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">renewable electricity<\/a> and gas once complete. Sustainable features include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/london-green-roof\/55352\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">biodiverse green roofs<\/a> that will support nature and wildlife, as well as water efficiency fixtures and fittings that will reduce the occupant\u2019s consumption.<\/p>\n<p>Following the demolition of the original building in September 2019, Skanska took over the site and began the piling work.
