being handed around \u00a320m to regenerate high streets<\/h2>\n<p>The 15 town deals total \u00a3335m and will fund <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/blackpool-town-deals\/84488\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">community regeneration<\/a> projects.<\/p>\n<p>Project include repurposing empty shops on high streets, creating new public spaces, transforming a riverfront area into a community hub with entertainment and leisure venues, and creating a new digital enterprise and learning centre.<\/p>\n<p>Town Deals have now been offered to all 101 places that were invited to develop proposals.<\/p>\n<p>Communities secretary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.robertjenrick.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Robert Jenrick<\/a>, said: \u201cAs we build back better from the pandemic, we are transforming our high streets across the UK into the kind of vibrant places we will want to visit, work and call home for generations to come.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis strategy sets out a vision for entrepreneurship to thrive, where local shops and businesses are supported with permanent al fresco dining, derelict eyesores transformed into quality homes and new hubs for business and entertainment encouraged.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith more funding for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/town-centre-recovery\/80298\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">town centres<\/a> and powers for communities to take a stake in their local area, we are delivering on our commitments to level up and put power in the hands of local people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to seeing what local communities have in store for national celebrations such as Her Majesty The Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee next year \u2013 a remarkable occasion that we will mark in style.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The towns deals will see millions of pounds invested in projects across England including:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a322.9m to boost the leisure and tourism sector in Crewe by regenerating the Swimming Baths, repurposing empty shops on the high street and creating new public spaces.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a319.9m to place the river Thames at the heart of the community in Grays, through transforming the riverfront area into a community hub with entertainment and leisure venues as well as improving water-based transport options to better connect the town with London and Kent.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a320.6m to attract visitors to Millom by highlighting the history and heritage of the town with a new \u201cIron Line\u201d project at the historic Hodbarrow Reserve, creating a fully accessible new park fusing ecology, heritage and art.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a317.5m to create a new public square in Todmorden to increase community space and highlight the towns green credentials, along with building a five-star eco hostel and setting up a digital enterprise and learning centre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The 15 towns and funding allocations:<\/h3>\n<table
