{"id":96953,"date":"2021-07-28T11:02:37","date_gmt":"2021-07-28T10:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=96953"},"modified":"2021-07-28T11:02:37","modified_gmt":"2021-07-28T10:02:37","slug":"tower-cranes-carbon-reduction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/plant-equipment-supplies-news\/tower-cranes-carbon-reduction\/96953\/","title":{"rendered":"New generation of tower cranes drive efficiency on sites"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>In the past 24 months, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bandk.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bowmer + Kirkland<\/a> have achieved some tower crane world firsts on projects across the UK<\/h2>\n<p>The Cadworks office project in Glasgow took delivery of the world\u2019s first Terex hydraulic luffing jib tower crane, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.terex.com\/cranes\/en\/product\/luffing-jib-tower-cranes\/ctlh-192-12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CTLH192-12<\/a>.\u00a0 This is the first hydraulic model of crane ever produced by Terex.<\/p>\n<p>The next-generation Terex tower cranes are assisting B+K on three major projects.<\/p>\n<h3>Projects are:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The Terex CTL272-18 luffing jib crane was the first in the world to be erected at 2, New Bailey in Manchester.<\/li>\n<li>The Terex CTT202-10 flat-top crane was the first in the UK at the University of Warwick project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The latest generation of cranes have:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Energy-efficient motors<\/li>\n<li>Advanced control systems<\/li>\n<li>Increased lifting capacities<\/li>\n<li>Increased mast heights<\/li>\n<li>Telematics as standard<\/li>\n<li>Air-conditioned operator cabin as standard<\/li>\n<li>Reduction in foundation loads.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>B+K now has four of the first 10 PUNCH \u2018Flybrid\u2019 units in the UK on their sites. Each unit hired saves 44,000 kg of carbon per year.<\/p>\n<p>Group crane manager, Dave Shooter, has been working closely with Worksop-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.selectplanthire.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Select Plant Hire<\/a>, to drive technology and innovation in the tower crane market. He said: \u201cThese next-generation machines have huge benefits and give us many advantages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSelect Plant Hire has been helping to ensure our sites have the latest lifting technology which is ensuring that we get maximum efficiencies from our tower cranes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also pushing to get carbon-reducing Punch \u2018Flybrid\u2019 on all our sites with tower cranes.
