Morgan Sindall Infrastructure<\/a> has been selected as the primary contractor to deliver six new stations for Northumberland County Council<\/a><\/h2>\n

Morgan Sindall Infrastructure has been appointed to Northumberland County Council\u2019s new stations framework contract to build six new stations on the Northumberland Line.<\/p>\n

The award includes supporting the conclusion of the detailed design and delivery plans for the six stations and bridges<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Northumberland council is working with the Department for Transport, Network Rail and Northern Trains Ltd on the programme to reintroduce regular passenger trains between Ashington and Newcastle by 2024.<\/p>\n

Subject to funding for the delivery of the full scheme being confirmed by the government, and approval of the recently submitted Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) application, the framework is estimated at \u00a340m.<\/p>\n

\u2018Creating social and economic opportunities\u2019<\/h3>\n

Council leader Glen Sanderson, said: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to have appointed Morgan Sindall Infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a hugely respected company with a proven track record, we\u2019re confident they will carry out a first-class job on this extremely important and high-profile project.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe tendering process was extremely competitive and I\u2019m grateful to all those contractors<\/a> who clearly put a lot of time and effort into the bidding process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Simon Smith, managing director of Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, added: \u201cWe\u2019re incredibly pleased to support Northumberland County Council on this ambitious project.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe in enhancing communities and creating long-term social and economic opportunities for everyone.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited to continue working with the local communities in Northumberland to improve local transport links<\/a> and create a lasting legacy in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Works are scheduled to commence in early 2022.<\/p>\n
