{"id":97490,"date":"2021-08-10T08:39:19","date_gmt":"2021-08-10T07:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=97490"},"modified":"2021-08-10T08:39:19","modified_gmt":"2021-08-10T07:39:19","slug":"kier-business-next-five-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/kier-business-next-five-years\/97490\/","title":{"rendered":"Kier reshapes business to support growth over next five years"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kier.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kier<\/a> is restructuring its UK construction business to support its ambitions for sustainable growth in key sectors across England, Scotland and Wales<\/h2>\n<p>The new UK structure consists of five business units including four regional businesses, its maintenance offering, as well as two newly formed functions.<\/p>\n<p>The new functions will focus on operational excellence and closer alignment to clients and markets, offering a unique approach through digitally-enabled, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/carbon-trust-standard-2\/88483\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sustainable solutions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>London, south and strategic projects<\/h3>\n<p>This business will be led by David McKenzie who joined Kier last year as managing director of London &amp; South East.<\/p>\n<p>It will continue to build important healthcare and education projects, as well as maximise opportunities with the commercial sector.<\/p>\n<p>Current projects include P2, a 12-storey, commercial 388,000 sq ft building in King\u2019s Cross as well as HMP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/moj-prison-scheme\/96054\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Five Wells<\/a>, a new prison that is utilising a Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/category\/mmc-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Modern Methods of Construction<\/a> (MMC) approach.<\/p>\n<h3>Midlands &amp; eastern<\/h3>\n<p>Mark Dady\u2019s current role as managing director for Eastern, will expand and cover the whole of the Midlands and the East of England.<\/p>\n<p>Dady will now lead projects such as Perry Barr Residential Scheme where it is delivering an eight-storey mixed-use building in the heart of Birmingham, as well as the new Ambulatory Care and Diagnostics centre to Heartlands Hospital.<\/p>\n<h3>Western &amp; Wales<\/h3>\n<p>Anthony Irving will continue as managing director of Western &amp; Wales and will also take overall responsibility for safety, health and wellbeing within the business.<\/p>\n<p>Within this region, Kier is delivering the UK\u2019s first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/passivhaus-case-study\/51206\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Passivhaus<\/a> standard ultra-low carbon leisure centre, St Sidwell\u2019s Point.<\/p>\n<h3>North &amp; Scotland<\/h3>\n<p>Gary Wintersgill continues as managing director for this business which spans from Nottingham to Scotland. Live projects span healthcare, education, local authorities and commercial and is pioneering new carbon-saving technology on its sites.<\/p>\n<h3>Kier Places<\/h3>\n<p>The housing maintenance and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/bim-news\/is-facilities-management-ready\/69259\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">facilities management<\/a> solution business will continue to be headed up by Mark Whittaker, who has grown the business significantly over the past two years.<\/p>\n<h3>Clients &amp;
