{"id":97787,"date":"2021-08-16T10:10:58","date_gmt":"2021-08-16T09:10:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=97787"},"modified":"2021-08-16T10:10:58","modified_gmt":"2021-08-16T09:10:58","slug":"musgrove-park-hospital-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/musgrove-park-hospital-2\/97787\/","title":{"rendered":"ModuleCo delivers\u00a0eye unit extension\u00a0at Musgrove Park Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.moduleco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ModuleCo<\/a> has provided a brand new eye unit extension for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.somersetft.nhs.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Somerset NHS Foundation Trust<\/a> at its Musgrove Park Hospital site<\/h2>\n<p>This development is a key part of &#8216;Musgrove 2030&#8217; \u2013 an ambitious programme to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/musgrove-park-hospital\/91522\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">transform the hospital\u2019s facilities<\/a> and help make sure patients are cared for in the right place to meet their health needs.<\/p>\n<p>The theatre and day ward suite is the first part in the development of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/plans-in-for-oriel\/85318\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new eye care unit<\/a> at the hospital, with a fifth theatre expected to be in operation at the site later this year. It has created\u00a0additional operating theatre space, more recovery space and dedicated patient areas which help them feel comfortable when receiving care.<\/p>\n<p>To maximise the space and provide all the accommodation needed, the ModuleCo design team developed a Day Surgery <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/modular-buildings-nhs\/73503\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">facility design<\/a> consisting of multiple modules of varying sizes, making up a 484m2 footprint.<\/p>\n<p>A ceiling mounted microscope and laser equipment had to be factored into the design to create the specialist Ophthalmic Operating Theatre.
