{"id":98247,"date":"2021-08-24T13:02:11","date_gmt":"2021-08-24T12:02:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=98247"},"modified":"2021-08-24T13:45:20","modified_gmt":"2021-08-24T12:45:20","slug":"community-led-housing-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/community-led-housing-2\/98247\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a34m fund to accelerate community-led housing"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Housing minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/people\/christopher-pincher\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christopher Pincher<\/a> has launched a new \u00a34m fund to increase community-led housing and give better access to affordable housing<\/h2>\n<p>The new grant programme aims to give community-led housing groups better access to high-quality, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/tag\/affordable-housing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">affordable housing<\/a> that meets the needs of local communities.<\/p>\n<p>The funding will help community groups meet a range of costs incurred in trying to develop housing. This could include paying for searches, administration costs or legal advice, design work and planning applications.<\/p>\n<p>The community-led approach delivers housing that is affordable locally and remains under the control of the community through land trusts or housing co-operatives.<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018A leading and lasting role in solving housing problems\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>Housing minister Christopher Pincher, said: \u201cCommunity-led housing is about local people playing a leading and lasting role in solving their housing problems, creating genuinely affordable homes and strong communities where mainstream <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/modular-construction-uk-2\/97008\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">housebuilders<\/a> are unable to deliver.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Community Housing Fund has been set up to support housing schemes that are truly community-led and will last for generations to come, helping ensure we build back better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Community Housing Fund Revenue Programme 2021 to 2022 is funded by the MHCLG and will help groups in the latter stages of pre-development.<\/p>\n<p>The Community-Led Homes Partnership (CLH) will manage the grant programme, assessing all applications and administering the grants.<\/p>\n<h4>CLH is a partnership of 4 organisations:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Confederation of Co-operative Housing<\/li>\n<li>Locality<\/li>\n<li>National Community Land Trust Network<\/li>\n<li>UK Cohousing Network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tom Chance from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.communityledhomes.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Community Led Homes<\/a>, added: \u201cCommunity-led housing groups are rooted in their communities and truly understand local housing needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are so many fantastic community-led housing projects planned across the country. This programme will help many of these projects come to fruition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Applications will open on 23 August and will remain open until all funds are allocated or until 31 December, whichever occurs first.<\/p>\n<p>The programme will close in March 2022 \u2013 all work funding by the grant must be completed by this date.<\/p>\n<p>To apply for the fund, groups will need to complete an eligibility checker on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.communityledhomes.org.uk\/chf-revenue-programme-202122\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Community Led Homes website<\/a>.
