Willmott Dixon<\/a> has started construction of 42 new homes comprising 32 two to four-bedroom houses, four two-bedroom bungalows and six one-bedroom apartments<\/h2>\n

Willmott Dixon has started on site at Rookery Lane in central Lincoln, as part of a project to deliver much needed affordable housing for the residents of the East Midlands city.<\/p>\n

The \u00a37.1m development includes the construction of 42 new homes comprising 32 two to four-bedroom houses, four two-bedroom bungalows and six one-bedroom apartments.<\/p>\n

The design of the development, which was procured through the Procurement Hub\u2019s Major Projects Framework<\/a> and designed by John Roberts Architects<\/a>, will ensure that all the homes exceed the recommended space standards and feature high energy efficiency levels.<\/p>\n

The new homes will be built using traditional construction methods but feature forward-thinking innovation including electric vehicle charging points<\/a> for each house and a shared pay-as-you-go charging station between the apartments.<\/p>\n

Over the past four years the business has delivered more than \u00a311m of social value in the region, creating more than \u00a356m of local spend with SMEs and spent more than 7300 hours supporting young people into jobs.<\/p>\n

The construction work is due to complete on site in December 2022.<\/p>\n

Supporting the council’s plans<\/h3>\n

Michelle Cotterill, director at Willmott Dixon, said: \u201cWe\u2019re pleased to be starting work on the Rookery Lane site, delivering much needed, quality, affordable housing for the people of Lincoln, while also supporting the City of Lincoln Council<\/a>\u2019s plans to respond to the 2019 Housing Needs Survey.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Now or Never 2030 Sustainability Strategy<\/a> positions buildings, people and the environment at the centre of our ethos, and this project is no different.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will be working closely with the residents of Lincoln across a range of social value initiatives that will increase communal, economic and environmental wellbeing in the region, while also delivering high energy efficiency levels throughout the scheme.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maria Clayton, capital projects manager for the City of Lincoln Council, said: \u201cWillmott Dixon will be carrying out the construction works, as well as the demolition of properties at 89 and 93 Rookery Lane to facilitate an entrance road to the new properties.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe design of the new homes ensures that they will all meet the recommended space standards and have high energy efficiency levels.<\/p>\n

\u201cParking will be built into the scheme, with the road acting as a shared space for cars and pedestrians in a bid to give equal priority to pedestrians cyclists while ensuring cars travel slowly.\u201d<\/p>\n
