An emotive video has been released to provide guidance for anybody affected, ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day (10 September)<\/h2>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"On the Edge - Suicide Prevention\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/597358738?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963&amp;h=50b4e6bbeb\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Filmmakers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aktproductions.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AKT Productions<\/a> worked with <a href=\"https:\/\/ambanjafilms.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ambanja Films<\/a> to create the hard-hitting film which depicts a man \u2018on the edge\u2019 and thinking of taking his life.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bam.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BAM<\/a> provided a construction site in Whitechapel, London as the location, and the suicide prevention project is supported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lighthouseclub.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lighthouse Club<\/a> charity, which is the only charity to provide emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.<\/p>\n<p>The result is an emotionally arresting and touching short film called \u2018On the Edge\u2019, that aims to enable and encourage those affected to find a way to talk about what they are feeling.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018On the edge\u2019 is free for anyone and everyone to use across the industries, and wider.<\/p>\n<p>Research has established that almost half of UK tradespeople experience <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/mental-health-construction-3\/97268\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mental health<\/a> problems due to work.<\/p>\n<p>Stress, anxiety and depression account for a fifth of all work-related illness.<\/p>\n<h3>A powerful but sensitive subject<\/h3>\n<p>BAM\u2019s Ewen Hunter approached AKT and said: \u201cIt was just a &#8216;good timing&#8217; moment because AKT had\u00a0the skillset, ideas and same desire to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/take-a-minute\/82238\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">raise this powerful but sensitive subject<\/a>,\u00a0so we were more than\u00a0happy to help\u00a0them develop the script and provide the film location.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough the film and subject are sensitive and distressing, our industry has one of the\u00a0highest death rates so to be able to be involved in creating this film matters a great deal to many people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThousands of people in our workforce alone will be viewing it and I know it will prompt some very valuable conversations.
