{"id":99362,"date":"2021-09-17T14:50:28","date_gmt":"2021-09-17T13:50:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=99362"},"modified":"2021-11-01T12:03:06","modified_gmt":"2021-11-01T12:03:06","slug":"riba-dfma-guidance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/riba-dfma-guidance\/99362\/","title":{"rendered":"RIBA publishes latest DfMA guidance"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The RIBA has published new Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) guidance, acknowledging the proven potential of DfMA solutions to produce not only good outcomes but great architecture<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.architecture.com\/knowledge-and-resources\/resources-landing-page\/dfma-overlay-to-the-riba-plan-of-work\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work<\/a> aligns with the 2020 Plan of Work and details the relevant tasks that must be actioned at each project stage to successfully deploy the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/design-for-manufacture-and-assembly\/74186\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DfMA approach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It reflects the huge technological advances that have been made to popularise the design process, and uses case studies to demonstrate the potential of the evolving method.<\/p>\n<p>The Overlay has been produced by a group of industry experts led by Nigel Ostime, partner at Hawkins\\Brown, and Ian Heptonstall, director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supplychainschool.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Supply Chain Sustainability School<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Publication of the report has been supported by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/akerlof.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Akerlof<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.buildoffsite.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Buildoffsite<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kier.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kier<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.supplychainschool.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Supply Chain Sustainability School\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukri.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">UK Research and Innovation<\/a>, and endorsed by Mark Farmer, founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cast-consultancy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cast Consultancy<\/a> and UK government MMC champion for homebuilding.<\/p>\n<h3>Embracing the adoption of technology and MMC<\/h3>\n<p>RIBA president, Simon Allford, said: \u201cThe new DfMA Overlay marks a significant development.
