Our cover story, by Henry Fenby-Taylor of the Institution of Engineering & Technology\u2019s Built Environment Panel, looks at the Apollo Protocol<\/a>, a new white paper that promises a \u201cgiant leap\u201d towards the creation of an interconnected ecosystem of digital twins across the built environment, manufacturing and technology sectors.<\/p>\n

Dr Krish Palmar looks at the Construction Innovation Hub\u2019s recently launched Construction Product Quality Planning (CPQP) framework, which offers a toolbox to help manufacturers create products and components in line with best practice standards of quality and legal compliance.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Dr Sotirios Argyroudis, the winner of the 2022 EC3 Thorpe Medal explores the opportunities for digital twins, IOT and machine learning in enhancing critical infrastructure resilience<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Protecting critical infrastructure is the focus of the National Digital Twin\u2019s Climate Resilience Demonstrator (CReDo) project, which used the fictional Sunford City in an interactive demonstrator tool to highlight the role of connected visualisation in extreme weather.<\/p>\n

Decarbonising construction is, of course, a complex and challenging task. Industry group ZERO is working on a plain language playbook that will help to set a path for everyone towards that goal. Founder James Bowles explains its aims and the importance of tackling embodied carbon.<\/p>\n

There is much more besides, including the new BIM for Housing Associations Toolkit, the challenges of data sprawl and the need for action to attract more digital skills.<\/p>\n
