The Charter commits us to work in the public interest. This means we campaign on the major issues, which today include eradicating modern slavery from the industry, improving the quality of the built environment, ensuring the right skills, talent and behaviours are nurtured in construction, and that our environment is protected through more energy-efficient buildings and less-wasteful construction practices.<\/p>\n<p>A core part of our remit is to advance knowledge, innovation and research within construction. This means we challenge the industry to be the best it can possibly be.<\/p>\n<h3>Our research<\/h3>\n<p>We set our research aims and reach our policy positions in consultation, using our members as well as our\u00a0External Affairs Advisory Board. To support our research we frequently survey our members and also commission respected polling companies to ask the public and MPs for their views. Our research is based on solid evidence, ensuring we provide policy makers with the right information in order to make informed decisions across a wide range of topics.<\/p>\n<h3>Chartership<\/h3>\n<p>Our members work across the construction sector and play a range of critical roles in the planning, design, management, construction and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure.\u00a0We welcome applications from all types of construction professionals, from surveyors to conservationists, engineers to HR specialists, designers to lecturers.<\/p>\n<p>Chartered Membership (MCIOB) provides recognition of knowledge and experience within the industry, creating more exciting career opportunities. It\u00a0generally requires\u00a03-5 years\u2019 experience\u00a0and a\u00a0degree-level qualification, but we have created alternative pathways to recognise different combinations of educational achievement and industry experience.<\/p>\n<p>Chartered Members also enjoy benefits such as access to more than 500 events every year, free CPD resources from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciobacademy.org\/?utm_source=ciob.org&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=menu&amp;_ga=2.195711020.1433655798.1617268541-99947365.1613726226\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CIOB Academy<\/a>, a complimentary subscription to Construction Manager Magazine and access to our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ciob.org\/library\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Library Information Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Fellowship<\/h3>\n<p>Those working at a strategic level, can progress higher to Chartered Fellowship (FCIOB). Fellows are among the most experienced and knowledgeable professionals in the construction industry. They are recognised globally for their skills and achievements throughout their career.<\/p>\n<h3>TechCIOB<\/h3>\n<p>Our Technical Member grade TechCIOB is for those who have a\u00a0level 4 (for example, NVQ4, BTEC) qualification and 3 years of experience working in a technical role\u00a0or a\u00a0level 3 qualification and 5 years of experience working in a technical role. As there is no formal application process and no post-nominals, Student membership is not classed as Chartered Membership. However, it is a great starting point for those wishing to become Chartered in the future. Student Members have access to a range of services to support their education and initial entry into the construction industry, including learning resources, networking opportunities, mentoring and support to work towards chartered status.<\/p>\n<h3>Tomorrow\u2019s leaders<\/h3>\n<p>Tomorrow&#8217;s Leaders is a cross-membership community within CIOB. It focuses on building professionalism and developing high-quality construction talent and aims to improve the pipeline of experts entering the profession and enhance expertise within the industry.<\/p>\n<h3>Chartered companies<\/h3>\n<p>CIOB Chartered Company members represent all specialisms and sizes of companies and consultancies across the globe.<\/p>\n<p>CIOB Chartered Company Member status proves that a company is run by professionally qualified managers, experienced in all aspects of the building process. Upon completion, they are eligible to progress to full CIOB professional membership, opening the door to a global community of construction professionals.<\/p>\n<h3>Corporate Plan 2023-28<\/h3>\n<p>Our Corporate Plan starts with what matters most to the users and creators of the built environment and how we help the construction industry respond. The plan has been shaped by our Trustees and members across the globe to deliver upon our public benefit remit.
