Wight Noise

About Us

Wight Noise Ltd. is a fully independent, multidisciplinary acoustic consultancy which offers sound advice in simple terms across a range of specialist areas, including environmental, industrial and entertainment noise, and architectural and building acoustics.

We take great pride in offering a comprehensive range of professional, competitively-priced, quality acoustic design and testing services, with emphasis on client communication and customer satisfaction – much of our work is repeat business for existing clients who have been more than satisfied with our service.

Based on the Isle of Wight, but offering services nationwide and internationally, Wight Noise is an established consultancy which has strong links with Solent Acoustics  and Southampton Solent University.  These links allow ready access to advanced acoustic test facilities, including Head-And-Torso-Simulators, impedance tubes, laser vibrometry and a hemi-anechoic chamber.

Principal Consultant, Jonty Stewart MIOA MIET MInstSCE, has over 20 years’ experience in acoustics- and sound-related areas, with 10 years’ experience lecturing in Higher Education.  In addition to consultancy, he holds the position of Senior Lecturer at Southampton Solent University, where he teaches sound engineering, live event technologies, acoustics and related subjects.  He has been instrumental in designing and delivering the Institute of Acoustics  (IOA) Certificate of Competence in Building Acoustics Measurement (CCBAM), which has been successfully run by Solent Acoustics since its introduction in 2012, and is also involved in the delivery of the IOA Certificate of Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement (CCENM) and the IOA Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control.  Most recently, he has been involved in the development and delivery an Irish version of the CCBAM, and has been appointed Chief Examiner for both Building Acoustics qualifications by the Institute of Acoustics.

Jonty is a registered tester under the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) Registration Scheme, which oversees quality of precompletion (sound insulation) testing in England, Scotland and Wales.  He takes an active part in the ANC and has performed duties as both Chair and Vice Chair of the Registration Scheme Committee.  He currently holds the position of Chair of the Certification Committee, which oversees quality assurance schemes for several areas of acoustics, including precompletion testing and acoustics in schools.
