In this workshop, Graitec will be covering the workflows and software available in the AEC Collection for processing and manipulating 3D Point cloud data
We will look at different ways in which we can obtain Point Clouds. From Laser scanning to photogrammetry, through the use of Autodesk Recap. We will optimise the data for use downstream in the other authoring packages such as Autodesk Revit — showing you the benefits of cropping the data, creating regions and various export options.
Moving on, we will look at best practise for using Point Cloud data inside of Autodesk Revit. Creating custom views with custom view ranges to help the clarity of the point cloud view. Best practise for tracing and assimilating the data into a 3d Revit model. We will also take a look at other tools available on the market for converting the Point Cloud automatically into 3d geometry.
We will see how we can use point cloud data for coordination in Navisworks. When it comes to bringing the whole project together, imagine using the newly built Structural building to check that the MEP model fits before fabrication begins, or looking at our project timeline and using up to date site scans to see if we are on target.
