May Winfield is a senior construction and construction insurance lawyer with over 19 years’ of experience representing consultants, contractors and insurers in complex disputes and contract negotiations.
Winfield is a recognised legal specialist in digital technology and was one of the first UK lawyers to start investigating the legal and contractual implications of BIM in depth.
Winfield has authored and co-authored various reports, guidance and standard documents on construction technology, including legal guidance regarding the ISO19650 BIM international standard, and the ISO19650-compliant Information Protocol document.
She is the co-founder and chair of BIM4Legal, a neutral forum for lawyers and the construction industry to gain knowledge about legal and contractual BIM, and has been shortlisted in the Compliance Innovator category of the Lexology Global Counsel European Awards 2023.
In 2022, May was named as 1 of 10 Inspiring Women Leaders to Follow in by Insights Success, and named as UK Leading Expert in Construction Law at the 2022 Corporate Excellence Awards and a Construction Idol by London Build 2022.
She also won the Woman in Construction Law Award at the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2020.
