The third biennial Plantworx event is coming to Leicestershire in June, bringing together a range of construction equipment machinery experts

In just three weeks the Construction Equipment Association (CEA) will host the UK’s largest ‘working’ construction equipment machinery exhibition. The event, which will be held on 6-8 June at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, Leicestershire, has nearly sold out, with only a few stands remaining.

The year’s Plantworx event is the third and is expected to bring some 15,000 visitors over the three days. With 386 exhibitors confirmed, some 160 of which are exhibiting for the first time, it looks set to be a highly successful event.

Demonstrations

The event will see the latest plant and machinery operate in ‘real’ site conditions, with a number of well-known brands such as Caterpillar, JCB, Volvo, Takeuchi, Kubota, Case Construction Equipment, BOMAG, and Terex in attendance.

Delegates will have the opportunity to try kit first hand (if they have the correct operator’s licence) on one of the demonstration areas.

UK Plant Operators, Leica Geo-Systems, and Construction IT Alliance (CITA) have also teamed up and will stage a machine control simulator competition to highlight technology in construction. Delegates can enter individually or in a team. http://ukplantoperators.com/plantworx/

Skills

Meanwhile, Highways England – Construction Plant Community will focus on promoting careers in construction.

Paul Whitehead who leads Highways England’s Plant Community Group said: “Growing our own talent will play a vital part in shaping Highways England and developing a high performing organisation.

“As a Government Company with capital funding certainty over five years, our supply chain has the confidence to invest in the people to make them capable of delivering what is a huge amount of work.”

The Hub

This year’s event will also bring in ‘The Hub’—a WiFi hotspot and innovation zone. This will be located at the heart of the show and will enable delegates to catch up on emails.

Colin Evison, head of innovation at Bam Nuttall said: “Plantworx presents contractors with a vast array of the latest construction plant and equipment on display and being demonstrated all in one place. It enables us to keep up to date on the very latest additions to the construction industry so that we may continually improve the way we deliver and maintain infrastructure.”
