About GeoEnergy Design
GeoEnergy Design (GED) is a specialist engineering consultancy dedicated to the design of high-performance, heat pump led, low-carbon heating and cooling systems
With more than 500 MW of heat pump assets designed, installed, commissioned, maintained and optimised, GED is recognised as one of the UK’s most experienced independent experts in this field.
What sets GED apart is the depth of real-world experience. Our engineers don’t just design
systems — we have lived with them in operation. That hands-on knowledge informs every
decision, ensuring systems deliver reliable, efficient performance long after installation.
The transition to low-carbon energy demands more than new technology; it requires better design thinking. GED exists to remove the risks often associated with poorly conceived heat pump projects, ensuring comfort, cost control and long-term performance are built in from the outset.
Our work spans industrial, commercial, education, healthcare, residential, heritage,
agricultural and public-sector environments, guided by a single principle: smarter design creates better outcomes.
GED’s portfolio includes some of Europe’s most ambitious heat pump schemes, from a 72.5
MW glasshouse system now promoted internationally at district-energy scale, to landmark urban projects such as Stratford Olympic Park, central London fifth-generation networks, and the evolution of Manchester’s heat network integrating waste heat and canal-source energy.
How we deliver
GED provides performance-led, RIBA-aligned services from early feasibility through to in-use optimisation. Our support typically includes options appraisal, concept and developed design, detailed construction design, commissioning validation and post-occupancy performance analysis. Every stage is underpinned by data-driven modelling, independent advice and a technology-agnostic approach.
Our vision
Built on expertise, we are shaping the future of heat pump performance. Through trusted
insight, technical excellence and uncompromising integrity, GeoEnergy Design is setting new standards for low-carbon heating and cooling — today and for generations to come.
