North Devon Council and Mid Devon District Council are joining forces through a new building control partnership that will deliver services from the start of next month

A new building control partnership has been created between two Devon councils. North Devon Council and Mid Devon District Council will provide services to both areas via the new service: NMD Building Control.

The service will launch officially on 3 April and will include an improved user friendly website with an online application service. Both council sites will provide access to the service.

Shared services

Leader of North Devon Council and Executive Member responsible for partnerships and shared services Councillor Des Brailey said:  “This is an exciting opportunity for both councils; for North Devon this is our first shared service.

“Working in partnership will allow us to provide an even better service and great value to our customers as well as saving money for both councils.”

Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration at Mid Devon District Council Councillor Richard Chesterton added: “A lot of hard work has gone into setting up this shared service over the last two years, I’m delighted that it has all paid off and we are ready to launch NMD Building Control.”
