The Department for Communities and Local Government has commissioned NBS Research to explore how the Building Regulations Approved Documents can be made more user-friendly…

The Building Regulations Approved Documents will undergo review, it has emerged. The documents, which provide guidance for the building sector, are downloaded over two million times each year, indicating the benefits and usefulness of these resources.

NBS Research will conduct a new survey to discern how Building Regulations Approved Documents can be made more user-friendly.

The organisation has been asked by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to look into two documents in particular. This includes Part B, which covers Fire Safety and Part M, which is concerned with Access to and the Use of Buildings.

The survey is aimed at those who regularly use approved documents, including architects, engineers, manufacturers, consultants, builders, and designers. It will not focus on the content or the technical guidance, but rather the style and format of the documents. Results from the survey will be used to improve and update the documents, if required.

The survey must be completed by 15 February and can be found here: http://surveys.ribaenterprises.com/wh/s.asp?k=145200527201
