Digital Construction Week 2022

Digital Construction Week 2022 returns to ExCeL London from 18-19 May – here’s why it’ll prove unmissable

Technology that powers the built environment is evolving at a rapid rate, which is why Digital Construction Week 2022 (DCW) is a must-visit for professionals who want to futureproof their business.

Taking place at ExCeL London from 18-19 May, DCW is on track to welcome 5,500+ industry professionals eager to harness technology, streamline projects and drive much-needed change.

Digital Construction Week 2022

At DCW, 150+ renowned brands will showcase the latest tech, tools and solutions to revolutionise the built environment. And 300+ top-tier speakers will deliver 120+ hours of free content across nine theatres.

If that’s not enough to inspire you, here are six reasons to visit DCW this year…

  1. Learn to lower emissions at the new Net Zero Stage

DCW 2022 sees the debut of the Net Zero Stage (sponsored by Autodesk), which will showcase pioneering projects and share solutions to help decarbonise the built environment.

Speakers include Bella Nguyen from Amazon’s Transportation Services and Dale Sinclair from WSP. And visitors can enjoy a special guest appearance from the Digital Twin Fan Club.

Ollie Hughes, the co-founder of Digital Construction Week 2022, says: “We’re excited to introduce the Net Zero Stage this year. And we’ve partnered with independent industry group ZERO to produce a packed programme. Visitors can learn how digital tools, methods and skills can improve project performance and lower emissions, and how DfMA, at renewably powered facilities, can move us towards net zero emissions.”

James Bowles from ZERO adds: “Construction of our built environment accounts for an estimated 12% of all CO2e emissions – we need to change this. ZERO wants to support the drive to low carbon construction and we’re excited to partner with DCW this year. The Net Zero Stage will include presentations from leading organisations, exemplar projects and exciting new technologies.”

  1. Get to grips with Information Management

If you’re confused about the shift from Building Information Modelling (BIM) to Information Management, look no further than the Information Management Stage at DCW (in partnership with the UK BIM Alliance and sponsored by the UK BIM Framework).

This stage is stocked with sessions on net zero, product data, digital twins, interoperability and the “golden thread”. With compelling real-world examples – from Hinkley Point C to small regional projects – attendees will learn how to effectively manage information.

Elsewhere, the Information Management Exchange will encourage networking alongside informal “In conversation with…” and “Ask the expert” sessions. At the Exchange, Anne Kemp and Dan Rossiter from the UK BIM Framework strategy board will discuss the UK BIM Framework with key collaborators.

Visitors are also invited to enter the UK BIM Alliance competition, who are on the hunt for a new name, and share opinions live on stage in the first-ever Open Mic!

  1. Witness the Future of Automation

SPOT, the agile mobile robot from Boston Dynamics, will be in action on the show floor. This popular exhibit, combined with the Leica BLK ARC, will showcase the power of automation.

Plus, the ground-breaking Leica BLK2FLY and Leica BLK2GO will demonstrate how the Leica BLK Autonomy fleet can help companies collect and manage data to create digital twins.

  1. Glimpse the future in the Start Up Zone

The Start Up Zone is always a talking point at DCW, with emerging brands presenting prototype technology and new “must-haves” that set the bar high for digital construction.

Here, you’ll see how the latest concepts have the potential to tackle the industry’s biggest issues. Plus, you’ll be able to pick the brains of the people behind the technology.

Ollie Hughes says: “The Start Up Zone is a really dynamic area of the show floor and I invite all visitors to check it out. It’s a great place to meet disruptive new brands and see where the digital construction industry is potentially heading next.”

  1. Meet 150+ brands

The heart of DCW is the bustling show floor featuring 150+ brands, including ALICE Technologies, Autodesk, Bluebeam, Deltek UK, Mission Room, OpenSpace, PlanRadar, Procore, Revizto, Scaled Robotics, Unity Technologies and many more.

At each stand, visitors will have the opportunity to get under the skin of the products and solutions driving change in the built environment. The show floor will also feature several highly anticipated reveals and hands-on demos.

Whether you’re interested in digital twins, augmented reality, information management, automation, AI, DfMA or robotics, there is something for every industry professional at DCW.

  1. Finally, have a drink with industry colleagues

With the entire industry under one roof, DCW is a prime opportunity to catch up with old colleagues and meet new faces. Where better to do this than during DCW Drinks on Wednesday 18 May?

At the close of the first day, you can network with visitors, speakers, and exhibitors alike during DCW Drinks, while checking out interactive exhibits and enjoying a much-deserved cold beverage.

Ollie Hughes concludes: “The future of digital construction is upon us and DCW is the perfect place to see this happening – alongside like-minded professionals. With this firmly in our minds, the DCW team is working hard to make sure this year’s event equips you with everything you need to help improve the built environment.
