Innovate UK is launching Bridge AI, a £32m fund to support the improvement of machine learning and AI in the construction industry

Bridge AI is a new government-backed programme that seeks to help businesses in areas such as construction embrace the potential of AI. The programme offers funding and support, helping companies install trusted AI solutions, connect with experts in the field and improve AI leadership skills. Up to £1.2m available will be available to each applicant.

The fund, launched on September 27, is open to any business, academic institution, charity, and public sector body. Applications can be submitted as a single entity or as an R&D collaboration. The application window will close on November 8, and an online briefing session for those interested in applying will be held on September 29.

The briefing session titled ‘Collaborative AI Solutions to Improve Productivity in Key Sectors’ will give insights to potential applicants on eligibility and the application process.

What are the requirements for Bridge AI applications?

In order to qualify for the grant, each organisation must apply got at least £100,000 in funding; the project must last four to eight months, operate exclusively in the UK, and focus on UK result exploitation. These projects should run from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.

Collaborative projects should be between £700,000 to £1.2m in funding, last 10 to 12 months, operate solely within the UK, and prioritise UK result exploitation. Collaborative projects must also run from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
