A letter from the board chair
Stepping into this role as board chair of the Modular Building Institute is both and honour and a responsibility I take seriously.
I have grown up around this industry, and I have seen first hand how modular construction continues to prove its value again and again. That experience gives me a deep appreciation for where we have come from, but even more importantly, it gives me real optimism for where we are headed.
Across North America and around the world, the opportunity in commercial modular construction is growing. Owners, developers, architects, contractors, and public agencies are looking for better ways to build. They want speed, quality, predictability, and smarter use of labour and materials. Modular delivers on those priorities, and our industry is responding with stronger capabilities, better systems, and a broader range of successful projects than ever before.
That momentum does not happen on its own. It depends on committed companies, strong partnerships, and an association that helps bring the industry together, remove barriers, and create new opportunities. That is why I am especially encouraged by MBI’s growing membership. Every new member strengthens this organisation. Every manufacturer, supplier, contractor, designer, developer, and service provider who joins MBI adds knowledge, energy, and influence to our shared work. That growth is good for the association, and it is even better for the future of modular construction.
I also want to offer my sincere thanks to everyone who attended the 2026 World of Modular in Las Vegas and helped make it such a success. Events like World of Modular matter because they bring our industry face to face. They create the conversations, relationships, and ideas that move real projects forward. They also remind us that modular construction is not a niche concept. It is a global industry with the talent, innovation, and determination to keep expanding.
Finally, congratulations to all the winners of MBI’s 2026 Awards of Distinction, featured in this issue. Your work represents the best of our industry, and your achievements raise the bar for all of us.
The future of modular is bright. I am grateful to be part of it, and even more grateful to help lead MBI at such an important time.
