Faithful+Gould will work with the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) to introduce a national carbon emission reduction programme

This initiative will include a range of organisations across the emergency services sector.

Many organisations involved in the program have secured funding from Salix’s Low Carbon Skills Fund (LCSF), with Faithful+Gould taking a leading role in creating and supporting funding applications.

Faithful+Gould have been working on decarbonisation projects. Their team comprises BREEAM advisory professionals, CIBSE-accredited consultants, and environmentalists who hold charters from IEMA.

The importance of net-zero emissions

July 2023 saw the hottest day ever recorded globally, surpassing the previous record set in 2016.

This serves as a reminder that immediate action is necessary to address climate change.

Fortunately, the carbon emission reduction programme has already achieved several achieved significant milestones.

“We are extremely proud to have supported the design of this decarbonisation programme’s operating model and to lead the project in collaboration with NFCC, Fire and Rescue Services, and wider blue-light organisations,” said Daniel Jermin, regional director and programme lead for Faithful+Gould,

“We are able to deliver a programme of real change, based on our wide experience of working with clients to decarbonise buildings at the estate level, in order to make carbon visible, change behaviours and accelerate the journey towards net-zero targets,” he continued.

How will the carbon emission reduction programme work?

The carbon emission reduction programme aims to offer expert advice, and guidance, alongside a well-organised structure for planning and providing professional consultancy services.

The program includes three levels of services:

Tier 1

This involves analysing energy data and carbon emissions, creating plans for decarbonisation, evaluating feasibility, and modelling opportunities for energy efficiency and decarbonization.

Tier 2

This level offers comprehensive support throughout the process of preparing and submitting funding applications.

Tier 3

This tier provides complete consultancy assistance for designing and executing projects related to decarbonisation and energy efficiency.

This programme ties in with Faithful+Gould’s organisational objectives, which contribute to meeting NFCC Procurement Hub targets. This is part of a joint strategy from NFCC and the Home Office.

“We are making a significant positive impact on decarbonisation by focussing on what is on our doorstep. With buildings responsible for 40% of global carbon emissions, our national decarbonisation programme demonstrates how we can tackle such a global challenge,” said Elli Nikolaou, NFCC national category lead for FM and construction.

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, which our programme has already demonstrated by partnering with Faithful+Gould under our National Decarbonisation Consultancy Services Contract,” she concluded.
