Volvo Construction Equipment has joined the corporate advisory board of the World Green Building Council…

The World Green Building Council (WGBC) has welcomed a new member to its advisory board. The WGBC, which has member councils in 75 countries, provides guidance to over 27,000 companies within the construction sector and works to address the environmental challenges of the built environment.

It is hoped Volvo Construction Equipment will assist the WGBC to develop environmentally-friendly building methods for the future.

Volvo CE president Martin Weissburg said: “This is a further step in our long term commitment to lessen the environmental impact of our products and encourage the adoption of new technologies and best practices.

“As a committed leader in construction, quarrying and mining we have a responsibility to do our best to use the world’s natural resources wisely and reduce emissions. These are complimentary aims. There is no conflict between doing smart business and doing the right thing.”

Volvo Construction Equipment has already shown its commitment to green building, with the launch of its own Construction Climate Challenge initiative. This was aimed at promoting sustainability in the construction industry value chain by creating dialogue between industry representatives, academics, and politicians. It also paves the way for research and knowledge sharing.
