Infrastructure and rail company Amey has announced that Andy Joy has been appointed as sector director for its Rail business

Andy Joy joined Amey in 2018 as a business director when it acquired the majority of Carillion’s rail business where he played a key role in ensuring the smooth transition of 600 employees and several major contracts into Amey and the safe delivery of critical milestones on Midland Mainline, Crossrail and the North-West Electrification programme.

Andy Joy was previously Managing Director for Carillion Rail and National Operations Director.

Nicola Hindle, Managing Director of Consulting and Rail, said on Andy’s appointment: “Having seen significant growth of our rail business within the last 12 months, I am confident that the breadth and depth of Andy’s senior executive experience will be invaluable to the growth and consolidation of our position in the sector.”

Amey, with a turnover of £2.2bn, employs 19,000 people internationally with a focus on the UK, but with businesses in Australia and America.

Amey’s aim is to make the world a better place to live, work and travel. Designing, building, maintaining and investing in the UK’s services and infrastructure.

This means keeping services running smoothly across the country: utilities, transport, engineering, justice, defence, environmental and waste services, and facilities management.
